In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertain times for schools nationwide, political talking points around education have misled and sometimes misinformed people on the intricacies of K-12 education policies. While education experts agree there is work to be done following stalled learning objectives, they also agree the lens that was quickly put on education has been largely out of focus – shrouded by voices talking too loudly to comprehend issues at their core.Salina Public Schools Board of Education and district executive staff briefly discussed these issues while setting tentative legislative priorities for 2023 in a work session last week.
